    It’s a good question, a serious question.

    It might be that the brain’s job is simply to think and it’s going to think no matter what we do (short of major drugs or alcohol).

    But it also might be that we can become aware of our thinking and, in so doing, no longer be reactive to it or conditioned by it.

    Maybe.

    Yes, to all of your comments. Reacting to it – of course, I wish I could will myself not to react but that does not work either. Maybe that is the same function as the brain’s job. I guess I still think I can control my thoughts. There’s the rub.
